Loomis builds on “Fix the Roads” with three-part SMART Mobility Plan

SEPTEMBER 15, 2026
Four years after running on a commitment to Fix the Roads, mayoral candidate Keanin Loomis is building on that commitment with a broader plan for how Hamilton builds infrastructure, connects communities and moves people to opportunity.
This week, Loomis is launching the Mobility component of his SMART Plan, with three connected commitments focused on better infrastructure coordination, rural roads and infrastructure, and improved access to jobs, education and services.
“Back in 2022, I ran on a pretty simple commitment: Fix the Roads,” said Loomis. “Four years later, fixing our roads still matters — but today, we need to think bigger and smarter.”
“Fixing how Hamilton moves takes more than fixing pavement,” said Loomis. “It means planning ahead, maintaining what we have and making the pieces work together.”
The Mobility commitments form the next component of Loomis’ SMART Plan for Safety, Mobility, Accountability, Responsive City Hall and Taxpayer Respect.
The plan emphasizes getting better value from existing infrastructure investments, planning ahead to avoid unnecessary costs, and pursuing outside funding where additional investment is required.
“Fix the roads. Plan smarter. Connect communities. Open routes to opportunity,” said Loomis. “That’s how we build a better-connected Hamilton.”
